In Los Angeles County, a small number of notary publics are authorized by the County Clerk’s office to assist with the issuance of marriage licenses. Where most marriage licenses issued by the Recorder are public record and require witnesses, confidential marriage licenses are not public record and require no witnesses. They are just as legal and binding as regular marriage license; the differences are only in the qualifications for obtaining one and access to certified copies.

Requirements for a Confidential Marriage:

1. Couple must be living together (proof or attest to the fact)
2. Must be at least 18 years old
3. No witnesses required
4. No blood test or waiting period required
5. The marriage must take place within Los Angeles County
6. Proof of I.D., valid, unexpired state-issued ID or a passport. Birth certificates, school ID’s are not acceptable
7. Proof of dissolution must be provided for any marriage that ended within the previous two years

You may obtain your own public license through City Hall at a cost of $70.00. I will perform the ceremony, and appropriately by law, sign and file the license for you.

I am available seven days a week, to officiate your marriage at ANY location of your choice within a 15 mile radius of Marina del Rey, CA., including formal indoor venues, gardens, seaside, hotels, hospitals, etc.

Though the recent civil rights actions in San Francisco and across the county are surely changing the definition of civil marriage, here in California we are still not authorized to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. I strongly believe that no religious or political organization has a patent on the concept of Love, nor a trademark on the word “marriage”; love should be confirmed, consecrated, and supported wherever it occurs.

Therefore, I cannot yet issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in Los Angeles County, I will continue to provide high quality ceremonial services for all who wish to celebrate their loving relationships.

I have access to a wonderful private non-denominational chapel, Monday – Friday with probable availability, day and evenings, with seating up to 100 guests, located in Los Angeles, CA (See Culver Events below); great for an “Elopement-style”, quick ceremony, and not in a county court, or the atmosphere of Las Vegas. The private chapel is quaint & beautiful, with French doors to let in the natural light and the beach breeze.

I will help you create personal vows, or, I highly encourage you to create your own vows, that will be special and meaningful to you on your day of commitment.
